About Us – Overview – Data Integrity
DataBay Resources recognizes the importance of providing the best available data for our clients. We can’t control the quality of the data we receive from state data agencies, but we can make it better before we distribute it within our products. We don't attempt to alter the data – we enhance it.
DataBay increases data integrity in a variety of ways:
- A combination of manual and automated reviews is developed for each new dataset we receive, at each step in the processing cycle. These reviews increase the level of confidence in each dataset's
- Compatibility with prior datasets.
- Validity that record counts are accurate and data falls within acceptable thresholds.
- Functionality within the products where it is used.
- The data is flagged for outliers, which provides users with options for exclusion during analysis.
- Codes are standardized, due to the wide disparity in variables collected among each data source, to provide users the opportunity to combine multiple states and multiple types of data. Code standardization eliminates the need for extensive clean-up after reports have been run.
- Updated provider and geographic descriptive files are purchased annually to ensure that report output is reflective of the most currently available information.
